Old bio from blog inception:
Hello fellow food lovers! I’m Megan, a New York based writer with an insatiable appetite for cooking, traveling and (especially) eating. My love of all things edible started at an early age and has only intensified through the years. I love the way food brings people together, love playing in the kitchen and love that cooking allows you to be an inventor, artist and scientist all at once.
As one of five children growing up in a traditional Italian & Irish-American household in the good ol’ Garden State, family means everything—and always went hand in hand with delicious bounties during holidays, celebrations and my Mom’s famous family dinners (I’ve been blessed to descend from a long line of incredible home cooks). Besides mia familia, my experience living in Italy and enthusiasm for travel have been the biggest influences in cultivating my impassioned love of food. And though I’ll always be a Jersey girl at heart, I adore the Big Apple for allowing me to explore new cuisine, expand my horizons and get inspired in the kitchen.
I’ve spent the last several years working for some of the best magazines in the business, and while I’m still in the publishing industry part-time, I’ve dedicated the past 12 months to satisfying my culinary curiosity by taking as many cooking classes as my schedule would allow—everything from fine techniques, knife skills and pastry boot camp, to Indian, Thai and Spanish cuisines.
Though my wallet and waistline have taken hits up & down during my somewhat spontaneous recent months, it’s been worth every last delicious bite and I can’t wait to discover more. The past year has brought just as many triumphs as it has tribulations, and has taken me on a thrilling and enlightening journey through life, love and food. So, I created this site as an outlet to share my culinary adventures and invite you to pick up a fork, raise a glass & join me for the ride.
Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy navigating around!
Happy eating,
Megan
A special thanks from the bottom of my heart (and stomach) to Abby, Tim and Jack — for encouraging me and helping to get this website up and running. I can’t thank you guys enough.
