Strawberries for Mom

Strawberry season is officially upon us. As if this time of year isn’t sweet enough, Sunday also happens to be my very lovely mother’s birthday! Since chocolate covered strawberries are one of her all-time favorite treats, I couldn’t resist dipping a few berries in her honor.

At the peak of ripeness, juicy strawberries are luscious enough on their own, but we all know that chocolate makes everything better. These cocoa-covered beauties are incredibly simple to make, and each time I bite into one, I think of Mom. And smile. Happy birthday to the best Mom in the world! xoxo


To dip your own, just follow the directions from my Chocolate Smothered Oreos post here. Simply swap out Oreos for a couple dozen strawberries (be sure to dry completely after washing) and get creative!

Cooper’s First Birthday Cake!

My little man turned one today and I couldn’t resist baking him this adorable pup-cake to celebrate. Since peanut butter and banana are two of his favorites, this easy-to-follow recipe was perfect.

Cooper loved his birthday cake so much that I had to wrangle it away from him before he devoured the whole thing (you can see in the last pic where he’s begging for more). If you dog-lovers want to bake a special cake for your pup, then give this quick and simple recipe a try—it’s sure to get tails wagging!

Cooper’s Peanut Butter & Banana Birthday Cake Recipe (makes one double-layered 4″ cake)

Peanut Butter & Banana Cake
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 3 TBSP natural, unsalted peanut butte
  • 2 organic eggs
  • 1 cup unbleached flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • Cream Cheese Frosting
  • 4 oz. (half a package) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
