Eat, Drink & Get Local on October 8th!

local eatsMy good friends at LocalBozo.com are throwing their first-ever food event on Tuesday, October 8th at Santos Party House and you’re invited. “Local Eats 2013” will feature delicious tastings from NYC restaurants Alison Eighteen, Swine, Boulton & Watt, Sotto 13 and more, alongside unlimited craft beers from Blue Point, Bronx Brewery and Lagunitas, wines from the Finger Lakes, and Tanqueray, Captain Morgan and Smirnoff spirits.

Attendees will also get to participate in a silent auction, with 100% of proceeds benefitting KEEN New York—a local nonprofit organization that works with developmentally disabled children in arts and athletics.

Tickets are affordably priced at $45 (two hour tasting beginning at 7:30pm) or $55 for VIP tickets (three hour tasting beginning at 6:30pm with exclusive gift bags), and are available here.

Highlights from the 2013 Food & Wine Classic in Aspen

This year marked the 31st annual Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, America’s premier and most prestigious culinary event. And I couldn’t have been more honored or excited to be heading out West with the KitchenAid team to attend my very first Classic. With eager anticipation and my appetite in tow, I made my way from Manhattan to Aspen, Colorado for three jam-packed days of food- and fun-filled festivities.

Aspen is a charming little town, boasting world-class restaurants and hotels, eclectic boutiques, and stunning mountain scenery—a breathtaking backdrop for a truly exquisite weekend. Food-loving attendees indulged in the ultimate culinary celebration with a schedule featuring everything from exclusive events and grand-scale tastings, to panels with industry pros and live demonstrations from celebrity chefs.

TGCE to Judge the 2013 Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off

Wednesday kicks off the 21st annual New Orleans Wine & Food Experience, and my excitement over heading down to the Big Easy for all the food, fun, and festivities is overwhelming.

It was an absolute honor to be invited to be one of the judges of the Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off—a yearly cooking competition where celebrated local chefs create their most delicious signature dish showcasing fresh Louisiana seafood in all its glory. Helping select a winner will surely be a tough task, considering the caliber of chefs competing. So am I ready for the challenge? You bet! I may even pack my elastic waist pants.

Last year, chef Keith Frentz of Lola restaurant won over the judges and was crowned “King of Louisiana Seafood” for his “Friday Lunch Special,” a cornmeal-dusted wild Des Allemands catfish with Camellia red beans and local crawfish succotash, braised collards, and homemade tartar sauce (get the winning recipe here). And on Saturday, one of these talented ten will snag the coveted 2013 title. It’s thrilling to be able to play a role in this year’s Cook-Off excitement — wishing all participating chefs the very best of luck! Really looking forward to meeting you and trying each of your dishes.
