Sharing an indulgent, edible gift with the person you love can be the most utterly romantic experience. Here, some of my favorite food finds to set hearts aflutter and make that special someone swoon.

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, the Big Apple is celebrating this romantic time of year by showing off its sweet side. Created in 2011, NYC Chocolate Week is the first event in New York City entirely dedicated to the art of preparing chocolate. During this ten-day culinary showcase, dozens of participating restaurants and their chefs will highlight chocolate’s irresistible qualities through exclusive food and wine pairings and specialty desserts.

Valentine’s Day Cupcakes

Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 04:02 PM - Posted by Megan - (2) comments

Love is in the air, red and pink hues are saturating color palettes everywhere and the sweet smell of cupcakes is wafting through my apartment—February 14th must be approaching.

While roses and gifts are certainly appreciated during this time of year, the way to my heart is most simply through my sweet tooth. To me, no Valentine’s Day is complete without the necessary abundance of sinfully sugar-filled treats. So, when I came across these darling cupcakes from Hello Naomi, I just couldn’t resist baking up my own version of the heart-topped confections. Could they be any cuter?

Hello Naomi’s Vanilla Cupcake Recipe (makes a dozen)

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup castor (superfine) sugar
  • 2 vanilla beans or 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 free range eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup self-rising flour
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
